Trains are like vehicles, but are built to travel on a railway line. They consist of many small units that are joined together to make one long unit known to us as a train. They are usually designed to hold more passengers. They come in many classes and types. Some are designed for lots of comfort especially the long distance ones. Others are just good enough to ferry people on short distances with less comfort. As a commuter it is left for you to choose which train suits your need best.

Commuting by trains comes with many pros and cons as well. Every product has its own advantages and its shortcomings, and so are trains. The pros of commuting via trains are as follows:

Economical

The first thing that people check is the cost of getting a service among other factors. Trains are less expensive than other means of transport. You pay little train fares considered to cars and planes.

Maintaining a railway line is extremely cheap as the rails hardly develop problems. The rails are also cheaper to construct when compared to roads that require much more money. Repairs are done more often on the roads as they are more prone to damages.

Reliable

Trains are reliable as they do not develop many mechanical problems as they are moving unlike cars. Trains travel on steel metal which hardly wear. Car tires can always develop punctures and other mechanical problems making trains more reliable. A train is made of metal that rolls on the metal rails thus not prone to any punctures like the rubber car tires.

Less Pollution

Trains are fewer in number but carry more people. Cars are more and carry less people. In logic, trains will thus use less fuel and emit less pollutant gases such as carbon dioxide which lead to climate change as a result of global warming. Such gases are referred to as green house gases. This is because they cause the green house effect as that done in farming. Such gases withhold heat energy in form of infrared radiations. These radiations are emitted by the sun and are necessary to be reflected back to the space. But these gases do not allow that. They hold the waves leading to extreme heat. These abnormally hot weather conditions have many devastating effects on living this lading to even loss of life.

Trains have also been developed to use alternative sources of energy that are more environmentally friendlier than fossil fuels.

Reduce Traffic Jams

Trains usually ferry many people and there are no traffic jams on the railway lines. They travel smoothly thus the worry of traffic jams is eliminated. This is very efficient especially for commuters who work on tight schedules. But in case of roads there are many cars using the same road leading to long traffic jams. When going for work this can be really cumbersome as you will always get late to go to work and your boss will hear none of that.
