There are two types of trailers that auto shipping companies make use of when they are shipping cars from one location to the other. The type of trailer to be used is decided on by the consumer depending on his or her pocket. There are great differences between these two types of vessels. Each is the opposite of the other. In this article we are going to take a look at these two options.

Open Trailer

As implicit from the name, this type of carrier is not covered at all. The vehicles are carried in an open carrier. Many vehicles up to 10 are carried at the same time in one open auto hauler. The open trailer is available in different sizes and capacity. No matter the size and capacity, more than 5 to 10 cars can be transported at the same by any open auto carrier.

Enclose Trailer

Enclosed carrier is the exact opposite of the open trailer. The vehicles are carried in an enclosed container. The enclosed trailer is available in varieties of sizes but no matter the capacity, the vessel cannot carry more than 5 vehicles at the same time. The enclosed trailers are also of difference types. Some are like box van. There are some that have cloth sides. During loading and off loading, the sides can be folded. There are some that can carry only one car at the same time. However, the vehicles are protected from every foreign material and element of weather.

The Advantages of Open Trailers

There are some advantages that can be derived from the use of open trailer. Open trailer is the commonest means of transporting vehicles. This is because of the fact that it is cost effective. Many people can afford it. The reason why it is affordable is because a number of cars can be carried at the same time. So, those who are on tight budget can make use of this type of carrier

On the part of the auto carrier, the use of open carrier brings them enough profit. They will be conveying many vehicles at the same time in trip. So, they will be saving on fuel.

Disadvantage of Open Carrier

As the saying goes, there are always two sides to a coin. Open carrier has its own disadvantages. One of the major disadvantages of this type of container is that the vehicles are exposed to the elements of weather such as rain, sun, hail, snow fall, wind, debris and dust. So, the possibility of scratches and damages occurring is high.

Due to the heavy load the trailer is carrying, there is the possibility of accident occurring during the transportation of the vehicles. Besides, there is the possibility of the trailer falling if it wants to turn in a sharp corner because of its size. If any of the above unfortunate incidences occurs, it will amount to a huge loss of money and even life should any person die in the accident.
